Onyinyechi U. Daniel

Currently, Onyinyechi sits on the board for Sinai Health System, where she serves as Chair of the Technology Committee, while also serving on the Finance and Budget and Governance committees. She is a member of the Institute of Physician Diversity, an executive group tasked with increasing the number of physicians of color throughout the medical school and physician faculty pipeline and also sits on the Loyola University AI Business Consortium Steering Committee. Onyinyechi demonstrates seasoned experience implementing and governing AI as executive advisor for Tennr, a healthcare IT startup founded out of Stanford University that uses AI and large language models (LLMs) to optimize the processing and consumption of healthcare practice documentation, and task automation.

Onyinyechi was most recently Vice President of Data & Analytics Strategy and Partnership at Highmark Health, a large, blended health organization with over $26 billion dollars in revenue. She built Highmark’s Data and AI Governance program, oversaw enterprise data & analytics strategy implementation, and was accountable for data & analytics-focused public policy. She also created the D&A product commercialization program, and built key strategic partnerships with institutions such as Northwestern University’s Institute for Population Health and Medicine. With a strong background building AI systems, and implementation of AI and data-related legislation, Onyinyechi was highly sought after and lead several industry workgroups.

She was a leader on the Blue Cross Blue Shield AI Public Policy Task Force, served on the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Health IT and Privacy task forces, and was also an active leader on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce technology working group. She has also served internationally, as Chairwoman of the AI Policy and Governance working group to build Nigeria’s AI Strategy in 2024. Awards include Becker's Hospital Reviews 75 Black Healthcare Leaders to Know 2022-2024, CDO Magazine's Global Data Power Women 2022-2024, Crain’s Chicago Business Notable Women in STEM 2023, Corinium Global Intelligence Innovators Award 2023, and Modern Healthcare’s Innovator Awards 2024. She is a highly sought after international expert and speaker.

Dr. Daniel holds Masters degrees in Medical Humanities and Bioethics and Health Policy & Administration from Northwestern University and University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health respectively. She also holds a PhD in Health Policy and Administration with a focus on Public Health Informatics, and Health Economics from the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health, where she is also an adjunct instructor. She also earned the Certified Health Insurance Executive (CHIE) designation by America's Health Insurance Plans (AHIP). She resides in Chicago, Illinois.
