Sheetal Shah

Sheetal is the Founder and CEO of MettaHealth Partners, a firm dedicated to transforming health and human services through responsible innovation, intelligent systems, and a deep commitment to human dignity. She brings nearly two decades of global and domestic experience in public health, digital transformation, AI/ML strategy, and healthcare policy implementation.

Early in her career, Sheetal served in a city public health department in southern Brazil during a dengue epidemic - an experience that shaped her lifelong mission. There, she witnessed firsthand how manual, paper-based systems created delays, administrative burden, and preventable suffering for both public health workers and the communities they fought to protect.

Her passion for global health and systems transformation led her next to Ethiopia, where she spearheaded digital modernization efforts at a university health center. In that formative role, she saw the catalytic power of data: how timely, reliable information could radically improve clinical decisions, operational resource allocation, and population-level outcomes.

Sheetal later applied this systems-thinking perspective across the US health ecosystem, contributing to the implementation of two landmark federal health policies under the Obama Administration: the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and the Affordable Care Act (ACA). She has supported value-based care programs across numerous provider types, partnered with over 30 state Medicaid agencies on delivery system transformation, and recently contributed to national U.S. Department of Health and Human Services initiatives to address health-related social needs. Her work has been featured in the U.S. Playbook to Address Social Determinants of Health.

She also serves on the Board of the Chicago Regionwide Community Information Exchange® (CIE), helping guide shared governance, data frameworks, and cross-sector workflows that strengthen community wellbeing.

In her entrepreneurial and data-focused leadership roles, Sheetal has built product and data features using AI/ML techniques, translating complex models into practical tools for frontline operations. In her last role, she led a team of novice data scientists through the FDA/VA Precision Heart Health Challenge, and the team was selected as a Phase 1 winner for developing a high-performing predictive model for heart health outcomes. This achievement highlights her ability to mentor emerging talent, lead high-stakes technical initiatives, and deliver meaningful, mission-driven solutions.

Across her career, she has worked with federal government, state and local health agencies, healthcare startups, health plans, health systems, nonprofits, and health data infrastructure organizations. This end-to-end experience allows her to bridge strategy, policy, operations, governance and technology in ways few leaders can.

Grounded by a personal meditation practice and a global public health lens, Sheetal brings both analytical rigor and compassionate leadership to every engagement. She holds a BA from the University of Michigan, a Master of Public Health from George Washington University, and is currently completing her Executive MBA at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business alongside her meditation teacher training.
