Sheetal Shah

Sheetal formed MettaHealth Partners in 2024 with the goal of intentionally supporting state and local health agencies and social service organizations in their digital transformation efforts. She wanted to create a consulting firm which reimagined how to best serve these organizations and make it quicker, easier and more cost-effective to receive the support they need.

One of her first public health placements was serving in a city public health department in the south of Brazil as they were facing a dengue epidemic. She saw first-hand how manual and paper-based processes could lead to administrative burden for the public health workforce hoping to provide timely access to services for the communities they cared for.

Her passion for global health then led her to Ethiopia where she was responsible for leading digital transformation efforts at a university health center. During this formative professional experience, she saw how data could transform decision-making, particularly in the context of public health, where informed decisions can have significant impacts on population well-being.

Sheetal has had the honor and privilege to implement policies and programs under two landmark pieces of health care legislation initiated during the Obama Administration– the American Recovery Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the Affordable Care Act of 2010. She has supported numerous types of health and social care providers in value based care programs, worked with over thirty state health agencies on Medicaid delivery system transformation, and has recently supported national initiatives with the US Department of Health and Human Services that aim to address health related social needs. She has worked on projects featured in the US Playbook to Address Social Determinants of Health and is a member of the Technology & Data Standards Workgroup for the Chicago Regionwide Community Information Exchange® Initiative.

Sheetal holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and a Masters in Public Health from George Washington University. She is currently engaged in a meditation teacher training program and is excited to further her education this fall by joining the Executive MBA Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
